The narrow corridor where Delaware meets Maryland is dotted with small towns, farms and shoreline communities that reveal how state lines shape daily life. Whether you’re planning a route, studying local history, or checking property boundaries, a quick list makes the geography easier to grasp.
There are 12 Delaware – Maryland Bordering Towns, ranging from Bishopville to Whitesville. For each town the data is organized as Country, State, Border type — you’ll find below.
How close are these towns to the actual state line?
Distances vary: some towns sit right on the boundary, others lie a short drive away. The Border type column in the list shows whether a place directly borders the state line or simply lies in a border county, so use that to judge how immediate the crossing feels.
Are any towns split between Delaware and Maryland?
A few communities have histories or addresses on both sides of the line, but officially split municipalities are uncommon. Check the Country and State fields for each entry and consult local maps or county records if you need precise jurisdictional or mailing-address information.
