Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in southern Africa, known for its dramatic landscape, diverse wildlife, and ruins of ancient stone structures. The country features highlands in the east, the Zambezi River valley in the north, and the Kalahari Desert in the southwest. Zimbabwe has a tropical climate, tempered by elevation. There are two main seasons: a wet season from November to March and a dry season from April to October. The name “Zimbabwe” is derived from “Dzimba-dza-mabwe,” meaning “houses of stone” in the Shona language, referring to the ancient stone structures found throughout the country, particularly the Great Zimbabwe ruins.
