The following list includes a list of the major cities and towns in Japan organized alphabetically. Japan has more than 740 locations. The ones with little or no population have been removed.
It is important to note that the Japanes language has its own alphabet and writing system – it actually has three writing systems -, which are considerably different than the Latin alphabet we use in the English language. Because of this, the names of the various places have to be transliterated to their closest-sounding approximations.
Behind every link, you will find data for each location such as its population size, state, and other fun facts about each.
Compiling this list took a lot of work. I hope you enjoy it.
