Lyft is the second most popular ride-hailing app in the US market. Many people prefer it over UBER due to its more user-friendly interface and economical rides.

But Lyft is a much smaller company than its ubiquitous competitor. So whenever you travel to a different country it is normal to wonder if it’s available there.

Is Lyft available in Mexico City?

Lyft is not available in Mexico City. Even though the company established an engineering office in Mexico in 2020, it still does not offer any rides.

When asked about Lyft’s availability in Mexico and Latin America, Chris Lambert, Lyft’s CTO said the following:

“The new CDMX [Mexico City] office will be another home for our engineering teams, tapping into the wealth of entrepreneurial and innovative talent from Mexico’s finest institutions. While we have no immediate plans to offer rideshare in Mexico, CDMX [Mexico City] is well poised to be our primary hub for all of Latin America,”

Alternatives to Lyft in Mexico City

Even though Lyft does not currently operate in Mexico City. Many other international local and international ride-hailing and ride-sharing apps are available.

The most popular and safer ones are:
