The Arabic Calligraphy Museum, located in Alexandria, Egypt, is the first of its kind dedicated to the art of Arabic calligraphy. Housed in an administrative building originally designed for a fine arts museum, the museum transitioned to its current purpose in 2009. It features collections of valuable artworks that highlight the evolution of Arabic calligraphy, showcasing pieces over two floors. Entry is free, and visitors can expect a tour that typically lasts around an hour. The museum is currently undergoing renovations, which have temporarily closed it since mid-2022, with plans for future reopening.

Among its notable collections, the museum holds the works of Muhammad Ibrahim, a pioneer in Egyptian calligraphy, as well as the significant “Al-Ghury’s Cache,” which contains rare pieces discovered in Cairo. This collection includes diverse styles and forms, depicting historical texts and calligraphic masterpieces that reflect the richness of Arabic heritage. The museum offers a glimpse into the artistry and cultural significance of calligraphy, featuring pieces that span various historical periods and styles.
