The Nymphaeum Traiani, also known as the Fountain of Trajan, is a historical site located in Ephesus, Turkey. Built between 102 and 114 AD, this ancient fountain served as a tribute to Emperor Trajan and the wealthy benefactors Tiberius Claudius Aristion and Iulia Lydia Laterane. Visitors can explore the remains of the impressive façade, which is about 12 meters high and features two tiers with intricate marble carvings. The site is easily accessible along Curetes Way, where guests can spend approximately one to two hours touring the area, allowing ample time to appreciate the historical significance of the ruins.

The fountain was adorned with a large statue of Emperor Trajan, who was depicted with one foot resting on a globe, reflecting ancient understandings of the Earth’s shape. Although the original statue is no longer present, visitors can still admire the remaining architectural elements and carvings that showcase mythological figures, including depictions of Dionysus and various imperial family members. The Nymphaeum Traiani stands as one of the notable remnants of Ephesus, offering insight into the artistry and cultural heritage of the time.
