Olinda

Founded in 1535, Olinda is one of Brazil’s best-preserved colonial cities and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The name reportedly comes from the Portuguese exclamation “Ó, linda!” meaning “Oh, beautiful!” uttered by the city’s founder when he first saw the site. Located in Pernambuco state, adjacent to Recife, Olinda is famous for its historic architecture, including numerous baroque churches, colorful houses, and artistic community. The city is particularly known for its vibrant Carnival celebrations, featuring giant puppet parades and traditional frevo music.

Osasco

Located in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, Osasco is named after Antonio Giuseppe Agù, an Italian immigrant from Osasco, Italy. Originally part of São Paulo city, it became independent in 1962. The city developed as an important industrial center in the 20th century and remains one of Brazil’s major commercial and financial hubs. It hosts the headquarters of several major Brazilian companies and has one of the highest GDPs among Brazilian municipalities.

Ourinhos

Situated in the southwestern region of São Paulo state, Ourinhos developed around a railway station in the early 20th century. The name means “little gold” in Portuguese, though the origin of this name is debated. The city grew as a coffee production center and railway hub. Today, it’s known for its agricultural industry, particularly sugar cane production, and serves as a regional commercial center.
